How to Hold an Excellent Kiss a Pig Fundraiser
This is a creative fundraising idea. While having people donate old cars or running sponsored 5K races can be big moneymakers, if you can spice up your fundraising efforts every once in a while (or every time, for that matter), your supporters will appreciate it. Follow this mantra: Anytime you can give your supporters a good experience for their donation of time, effort and/or money, they’ll appreciate it and reward you with even bigger and repeat donations.
This idea is best done as school fundraiser idea, but it can be adapted for nearly any organization.
Capitalize on school spirit (or dislike of particularly strict teachers) and get people to vote with their dollars for which teacher should kiss a pig. Basically, in this fundraiser, students put money into the donation jar of a teacher they would like to see kiss a pig in front of the entire school. You can complete this fundraiser without putting too much effort into its execution.
Step-by-step, here’s how to get started:
- Students should nominate teachers who they would like to see kiss a pig.
- These teachers should be asked to see if they would be willing to kiss a pig in front of the entire school if their jar receives the most money, knowing that their willingness to participate would help to raise money for the chosen cause.
- Jars should be put out during lunch periods for a week prior to the event during which the actual pig kiss will take place (a pep rally, an all-school meeting, etc.). During these lunch periods, students will put money into the jar(s) of the teacher(s) they would like to see kiss a pig.
- On the day before the event, the money in the donation jars should be counted.
- At the event, the announcer should enthusiastically announce the winner and the winner should kiss the pig (to the cheers of hundreds of students).
This fundraising idea is really a winner. Students love donating when they get something out of it. Make sure to get the local newspaper involved.

Love this idea how do I find a pig?
I’m glad you like it!
Try contacting local farmers in your area. They’ll either just say “no” and laugh or they’ll be happy to support your cause.
We did something similar…used a fish instead! A local grocery store donated a large fish.
Great idea, Pat!
